What is an eBook?
The "E" in eBook stands for electronic.
On the Internet, information is transferred
Electronically.
The "Book" part of eBook is produced by a software
program referred to in general terms as an HTML Compiler.
HTML stands for "HyperText Markup Language" and
is the programming language used to create Web pages.
A HTML Compiler compiles or gathers HTML based
files into a single, self contained file which embeds its contents into
a stand alone, executable file that will run on its own and can be read
on the computer screen in much the same way as a real book.
You can buy an eBook complier on the internet.
I will tell you where to get one.
There are many brands to choose from with slightly
different features.
The compiler can be used over and over again
to produce more eBooks.
You can load it with new content each time you
publish another eBook.
It's not essential that you have a technical
understanding of how the compiler works.
The only thing you'll need to do is create the
information you'll be presenting to your readers.
The information usually consists of text, just
as you would find in any hard cover book.
Thanks to the HTML language many other forms
of information can be added.
This allows us to add sounds, music, pictures
and even video to an eBook.
Links to other internet resources allow the reader
to divert quickly to a reference
address or other resources such as an email program.
